Distinctive Home Exteriors is owned and operated by Ken Hollingshead. “I was raised in a rural community in South East Kansas and I am a graduate of the University of Kansas. Growing up in a small town taught me the importance of a good work ethic and doing things right the first time. I treat every installation as if it were my own home and I am at the job site every day. I am a former James Hardie Employee.
While working for the James Hardie organization some of my key responsibilities included conducting training seminars for builders, contractors, and installers. I also conducted quality audits on completed projects in Kansas and Missouri. My passion for the product and belief that I could do a better installation led me to form my own company.
We do Things A Little Differently
At Distinctive Home Exteriors we bring our exterior remodeling products to market a little differently than some other companies. We only install James Hardie fiber cement siding, we do only one project at a time from start to finish, we use only one very experienced crew, we don’t employ commissioned sales reps, and we always follow James Hardie installation requirements.
A Fully Educated Homeowner Is Our Best Customer
That’s why we communicate with the customer before, during, and after the installation process and Ken, our owner, is personally at the job site every day communicating with the crew about the job expectations. Distinctive Home Exteriors has established itself as one of the leading home exterior remodeling companies through meeting all of our customer demands in a high quality and timely fashion.

Contractors understand the importance of keeping clients and workers safe. Many have adopted new standard ways of working, such as replacing in-person meetings with virtual conferencing and limiting the size of on-site crews. Ask your potential contractor about the specific measures they have in place to ease any concerns you may have.
